Mets Sign Spivey to Minor League Contract

The Mets have signed infielder Junior Spivey to a minor league contract.

Spivey last played in the major leagues for the Nationals in 2005, when he hit just .221 in 28 games.  In his sophmore year, Spivey hit .301 with 16 HR and 78 RBI, and finished 14 in the MVP voting that season.  He was also an All Star.  Spivey is primarily a 2nd Basemen, but has played SS and OF in the past as well.
