Burress Who? Nicks Is The Man!

Published by danielcorvino under Football, Giants Edit This

There was no draft day trade for the Giants, although many big name wide receivers were rumored to be headed to NY, to replace the recently released Plaxico Burress.  Among those rumored names were Braylon Edwards, Chad Johnson and Anquown Boldin.  Instead, the Giants decided on a rookie WR to replace Burress, taking receiver Hakeem Nicks of North Carolina with the 29th pick overall.

The Giants released Burress earlier this month after concluding that veteran was not going to change his ways after four troubled seasons. His tenure was highlighted by a game-winning touchdown catch in the Super Bowl against the previously undefeated New England Patriots in February 2008, but it was also dogged by fines and suspensions.

Nicks, who left school after his junior year, set 14 school receiving records at North Carolina, leaving as the all-time leader in catches, yardage and touchdown receptions.

Apparently, it’s the fans fault the Giants lost!!!

OK, I am officially sick to my stomach.  I’ve heard everything now.   Most of talk radio today wasn’t about the offensive nightmare that was the Giants on Sunday.  There was very little talk about the Eli of old, hanging is head and throwing up INTs (well, there was a little talk about it).  And nobody was talking about the lack of sacks on McNabb for the 3rd time all season.  It wasn’t Eli’s fault.  It wasn’t Coughlin’s fault.  It wasn’t the offense or the defense, or the lack of Burress, or Strahan, or Shockey….. Nope… Do you know who was to blame for the loss on Sunday…..

THE FANS!!!  Are you kidding me??? The Fans??? You are freaking blaming the fans?  And it’s not just the radio hosts talking about it being the fans fault…. The fans are saying it to…. Yep, that’s right, now you have fans pointing fingers at other fans.  Give me a freaking break guys….

Apparently, the fans aren’t loud enough, and don’t truely give the Giants a home field advantage.  Young fans are blaming old fans, saying that the old fans don’t stand up on 3rd and short, or during a goal line stance, and they don’t cheer loud enough, and it doesn’t provide a true home field advantage.

Excuse me, but that is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard.  The Giants lost for MANY, MANY reasons on Sunday, and not one of those reasons were the fans.  I’d really like to hear someone from the Giants speak up and take blame for the loss, and be man enough to put the blame where it really belongs, and take it off of the fans, because it’s not the fans fault the Giants lost… It’s the Giants fault!

Giants lose a heart breaker in divisional round

Published by danielcorvino under Giants Edit This

Well, as I previously posted, if there was one team the Giants should have been fearful about having to face in the post season, it would have been the Philadelphia Eagles.  The Giants and Eagles met today at Giants Stadium in a 1 pm show down in the divisional round of the NFC playoffs.

The Giants were handed a stunning defeat by the score of 23 - 11.  The game started off on a good note for the Giants, with Bradshaw’s 65 yard kick off return, and went down hill from there.  The Giants never really seemed able to get their offense going consistantly all day.  It was more like a stop and start all day.  One big play, followed by a foul up.  In the end, the Giants only managed to score 3 field goals, blew 2 more attempts, and their defense put up points with a safety.

The big question was, which Eli Manning was going to show up.  Was it going to be the Eli, who led the Giants to the Super Bowl last post season, and got the team off to a 11 and 1 start?  Or would it be the “shrug your shoulders, hang your head, and pout when things don’t go your way” Eli from basically before last season.  Well, it was the later that showed up.

Giants fans can at least take some satisfaction that the Eagles will probably go to the Super Bowl, so at least today’s game was more like the NFC Championship showdown.

That’s my 2 cents… I’d love to hear yours!

Giants vs Eagles - Winner is Superbowl Bound

Published by danielcorvino under Giants Edit This

061029_new_york_giants_logo.jpg

Mark my words, the winner of this game will appear in the Superbowl.  The Giants are the defending Super Bowl champs, who posted the best regular season record for the NFC, and have had plenty of time off to rest and recover for a playoff run.  The Eagles, are the under dog, who miraculouesly made their way into the playoffs, and are in a position where they will not have home field advantage the entire playoffs.  They are also the hot team, who has now won 5 of the last 6 games including last weeks game against the Vikings.

The Eagles and Giants met two times this past season, and split the series 1-1.  Both games were close and could have gone either way.   The Giants have 2 great offensive weapons in Eli Manning and Brandon Jacobs.  The Eagles have 2 great offensive weapons in Donavan McNabb and Brian Westbrook.  Both teams have receiving corps who are filled with over performers.  Both teams have great defenses.

It will be the best playoff game of the weekend and probably the post season.  So as I said, the winner of this game will go to the Super Bowl.

That’s my 2 cents…. I’d love to hear yours!
